Account setup

Your OrderUp account is the front door for every app in the platform. The same email and password sign you in to Management on a laptop, to the Ordering site, and to the POS on a tablet (with a PIN added on top for speed at the counter).

1. Create your identity

Go to identity.letsorderup.com and choose Create account.

You'll be asked for:

  • Email — Use a real address you check daily. This is your sign-in.
  • Password — Minimum 8 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and a symbol.
  • Full name — How you'll appear to your team.

After you submit, OrderUp sends a verification email. Click the link in that email before continuing — most setup steps require a verified address.

2. Verify your email

The verification message arrives within a minute or two. If you don't see it:

  • Check your spam folder for no-reply@letsorderup.com.
  • Confirm you typed your address correctly (emails are case-sensitive in some mail systems — Owner@cafe.com and owner@cafe.com are routed the same, but always sign in with the exact case you registered).
  • Use Resend verification on the sign-in page if needed.

3. Create your business (tenant)

In OrderUp, a tenant is your business — the legal entity that owns one or more restaurant locations. A single tenant can hold dozens of restaurants under one umbrella, which is how multi-location groups share menus, staff, and reports.

When you sign in for the first time, you're prompted to create a tenant:

  • Business name — The legal or operating name (e.g., Coastal Hospitality Group).
  • Primary contact email — Often the same as your sign-in.
  • Country and base currency — Used as the default for new locations.

You can rename the business later from Management → Settings.

4. Add team members

You don't need every team member to create their own account first. From Management → Staff → Employees, click Invite and enter:

  • Their email address.
  • The location(s) they should have access to.
  • Their role (see below).

OrderUp emails them an invitation with a one-click acceptance link. When they accept, an account is created automatically and linked to your tenant.

For full instructions, see Invite your team.

5. Roles at a glance

OrderUp ships with a set of system roles. The most common are:

  • Owner — Full access to every location, every report, every setting. Reserved for the people who legally own the business.
  • Manager — Day-to-day operations: staff, schedules, menus, voids, comps, and reports. Cannot change billing or delete the business.
  • Staff — Front-of-house and back-of-house team members who clock in on the POS, take orders, and handle payments. Specific permissions (refunds, comps, discounts) are controlled by the manager.

Multi-location groups can scope roles to specific restaurants, so a store manager only sees their own location while a regional director sees several.

Common gotchas

  • MFA setup — We strongly recommend turning on multi-factor authentication for owners and managers. You'll find it under Account → Security in Management. Enroll before sharing access with others, and keep a recovery code somewhere safe (a password manager is ideal).
  • Browser support — OrderUp Management and Ordering work best on the current and previous versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox. Internet Explorer is not supported.
  • Email case — Email addresses are stored in lower case internally. If a teammate can't sign in, ask them to try the all-lowercase version of their address.
  • Single tenant per email — One email can belong to multiple tenants (handy for accountants and operators of multiple businesses), but each invitation must be accepted while signed in to the matching account.
  • Signing in with both a management and a staff account — If your email is both a manager/owner on a tenant and a linked employee (common when an owner also clocks in on the POS), signing in at identity.letsorderup.com shows a "Where would you like to go?" screen so you can pick Restaurant Management or your personal staff page. Accounts with only one of the two skip straight to it, as before.

Once your account and tenant are live, the next step is to add your first restaurant.
